REPORT MAY 15 ELVETHAM FOREST
Tony Fords bulldozer provided a good racing surface for James King to give a nicely watered track which lasted all day. A good entry enjoyed their day on this increasingly popular track.
Gavin Willigers dashed away to take an emphatic win in the twenty minute Sorbothane Full Strike insoles 450 Fourstroke Championship race.Only Alex Hornsby posed any threat coming up to second from a slow start. Brad White hit something like his best form to take third.
In the Boretech 250 Championship race It was James Jackman who shone, way ahead of Paul Warren who now leads the championship table.Vickie Hornsby nearly made it a family one two, but had to settle for third, behind Paul.
The Elderfield mcs.Pre 95s started off well with Daniel Lawrence beating Vic Doughty and Mark Carruthers ni the first leg. However machine failures quickly decimated the field. Leaving DanielLawrence to beat Mark Jordan in the second and third legs.as the only finishers.
Hannah Wimbourne circulated at a pace none of the other girls at the meeting could match, to win all three Leon Ladies races.Surprise of the meeting was the return to form of Charlotte Williams after illness had held her back in 2015. She took three second places. Natalie Burrows her mum Dawn and Amanda Schmidt shared the third places.
The A group featured some of fastest and hardest fought races seen at SMX this year. Connor Disano holeshot the first leg, with George Hebden up his exhaust pipe. On the third lap Ricky Carter made a pass on both of them.However a lap later George re-passed Ricky. The excitement wasn’t over as the fourth man in the high speed train ,Giles Willigers nabbed second from |Ricky on the last lap, with James Jackman pushing early leader Connor back to fifth on the frantic last lap.
Ricky Carte made the gate in the second leg with Alex Hornsby right behind him. A lap later Alex had the lead. Alex refused to let George hebden, who had whipped by Ricky on the third lap, get by. The squabbling sextet carried on until the end, With Alex hanging on to pole position,George second, but on the Penultimate lap Giles Willigers pushed Ricky back to fourth. Then On the last lap James Jackman pushed Ricky back to fifth.
Ben Stark had been just outside the top six in the first two races, but he lit the blue touchpaper and launched into the lead off the start in the final leg.Alex Hornsby was on his tale, but crashed on the second lap, letting Connor Disano into second. With three laps to go Connor turned on the turbo charger and whistled by Ben to go on to win. Then the fun began, George Hebden quickly moved into second on the same lap, with James Jackman on his tail. Giles Willigers was also making his usual late run up the leader board, pushing Ben back to an eventual fifth place finish.
