Northchapel 13th Sept 2015 - (Article Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2015)
Best turnout at Northchapel for quite a while. Unfortunately I dropped a full bowser wheel into a hole, Apparently caused by a war time doodlebug bomb. After recovering the damaged bowser, I cut the track short, and for practice, I put the bulldozer 30 yds back behind the rope so that riders would notice the alteration. I told them before they went out it was there. It worked, then one of the riders said could I bulldozed the cut through as that was causing problems. I did that before the second practice and left the bulldozer much further back. With a banner supplied by Paul Schmidt highlighting the corner. The bottom straight down by the river which I had intended the bowser load for didnít get done, so was dusty. The riders used their commonsense so there were no problems there. The day then ran well although Trayton Kirby lost an argument with his bike, resulting in a punctured lung, in his last race, He was on for a trophy. The helicopter brought a doctor to the scene but it was deemed ok for him to go off in the ambulance. Much to his disappointment.
Elliott Reeves took his customary win in the 125 twostroke championship.Leaving James Bartholomew to hustle his Pre 05s model to second, a respectful distance back but clear of Stewart Lawrence.
With Leigh Williams absent due to his crash the previous week, his brother Brent took up the challenge in the five hundred twostroke championship race. Taking a deserved win from Macie Berdysx and Dave Davies.
The Boretech 250 fourstrokes is always hotly contested. This week Ricky Carter did the double in the two scratch races. ahead of Jared Hutton. Jon Court and Josh Bray took a third apiece. Miles Pengre was the early leader of the ability handicapped final leg.But was soon passed by Sean Warren who carried onto win.despite Ricky Carter charging up fast behind him. Jared Hutton claimed third on the last lap from a tiring Jon Court.
Shaun Wright won the first Sorbothane full Strike Insoles 450 fourstroke scratch race from Brent Williams and Gary Archer. When looking like completing the double in the second leg Shaun punctured, just after passing early leader Gary Archer. Gary said thank you and went on to win from Maciey Berdysx and Brent Williams. This meanít all to play for in the ability handicapped final leg.Paul Copling sauntered away to the early lead,Confidently leading until mid race, when Maciey Berdysx nipped by to win from a fast closing Brent Williams and Gary Archer. This made it a three way tie between these three which went to Maciey on the tie break.
Shaun Titcombe was the unbeatable star of all three races in the Pre 95s. Even the handicapper couldnít stop him. Dave Davies took second in the scratch and Machine age handicapSteve Titcombe Junior was runner up in the ability handicap after a poor day. Colin Slaughter and Nick Sammut shared the third places.
James Bartholomew has become almost unbeatable in the Pre 05s.Once again taking all three legs.
Trayton Kirby was in fine form taking a second and third before his unfortunate dismount in the last leg. Jon Ashden took second in the ability handicapped last leg to clinch second overall from Steve Perry.
After a series of battles with Ricky Carter, Elliott Reeves clinched A group two wins to one for Ricky. Jack Geormegan took two thirds while Shaun Wrights one.
