Elvetham 6th Sept - (Article Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2015)

                Report Elvetham Sept 6

I have to apologise for the delays that caused us to run over an hour late last Sunday.

Leigh Williams accident held things up for quite a while. You canít rush these things.  Fortunately he is back at work, Some what battered and bemused. He has ligament damage to the shoulder area as well as being battered and bruised elsewhere, not surprising considering how hard he hit the ground. Our Ambulance men as usual did a good job, likewise the County Ambulance personnel

The second holdup was because there is an electric cable being laid in a pipe, beside the river,. The workmen had  removed our, 50 ft  long 9 inch wide, extractaction pipe from the water. Replacing it through two fences and moving it 30 feet forward, was a major task due to its length and weight. Causing a long delay while discussions and actual replacement took place .The next door landowner whose land we cross was as usual very helpful  Half the track was quickly watered and conditions remained excellent all day.

Thank you to all the riders for your patience .I am sorry we finished an hour later than we expected. We know they are going to be there now so can arrange things in advance if necessary.

In the rerun 250 2stroke championship race caused by Leigh Williams first lap crash, Connor Disano took of like a scalded cat and led almost to the flag .Behind him Ben Stark was pushing hard chased by initially Danny Turner. Until Alan Scott nipped into third with three laps gone. The race then got really frantic as Alan wore Ben down Four more laps and Alan grabbed second. Meantime Connor still looked safe, however Alan had other ideas. Come last lap and Alan seized on a little mistake by Connor to annex the win. Ben Stark was third from a chuffed Danny Turner who was carrying a leg injury.

Vicky Hornsby was the star of the Leon Ladies scratch race Jaymie Garrod was a constant second from Amanda Schmidt. Dawn Burrows and |Amanda Schmidt  were the early pace setters in the age handicap, but Vicky Hornsby marched through and away Soon followed by Jaymie Garrod .Amanda clung onto third. Vicky missed the  ability handicap, Danielle Whelan making her debut on the racetrack led the first lap.Dawn Burrows then had a brief spell as the star turn, before Lucy Rowland took over for the next lap. Jaymie Garrod then showed her class speeding by to win.Lucy was a chuffed second from Amanda Schmidt.

Danny Turner showed the benefit of Sorbothane Full Strike insoles, which enabled him to ignore the leg injury and win the Pre 10s scratch race.Championship leader Danny Robb chased him early on then dropped back to eigth on the third lap.  |but fought back passing Richard Wise on the last lap for second. Cliff Stark was the first to show in the machine age handicap, Mark Hooper had a lap in first place before Danny Turner took over. This time Danny Robb didnít make any errors. Grabbing the lead on the penultimate lap.Paul Schmidt buzzed home in third.
