In memory of Dave (Graham)Kent - (Article Date: 25 November 2014)
Over 40s sponsor has died suddenly, his funeral is at 2:15 at Aldershot Crematorium on Tuesday 26th November at 2:15. All welcome
He was one life real Gentlemen in every meaning of the word. He came along to Blackbush farm, soon after we started Southern Moto Cross with his son,who he always called Kenty. Kenty duly won the next year’s championship. Then when we started Over 40s races he dug out his trusty old 1960 something 250 Cotton and joined in. Not content with that when we started the Over 40s championship, He sponsored it, and still does to the present day, despite retiring many years ago.
Dave Kent Over 40s Moto Cross championship was the first Over 40s Moto Cross championship ever in this country., it is still the best. Or anywhere else in the world for that matter. Often copied but never equalled.
I well remember Dave leading the final lap at Odiham in the ability handicap 20 years ago, and try as I might I couldn’t catch him on his old Cotton.. He was chuffed to bits.
He has been my friend for over 30 years. He popped into Elvetham only a few weeks ago. I will miss him more than you can imagine. The Over 40s championship will always be the Dave Kent Over 40s championship.
